Job description

As a Senior Back-end developer, you'll be a vital part of our team, working together to build Donna, our perfect AI-sales assistant for field sales reps. Donna empowers them to focus on what they do best - selling.

Expect to tackle diverse challenges in back-end engineering while helping shape the infrastructure behind our AI systems. You’ll work on integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) and scaling the real-time systems that power Donna’s voice and conversational capabilities.

What you’ll be doing

A non-exhaustive list of features we could use your help with:

  • Design and implement the overall architecture of our web applications and integrations, ensuring they are responsive and maintain high-quality code standards.

  • Adding support for new data source ingestion and assisting in maintaining clarity in our data layer.

  • Scale and optimize our voice-to-voice pipeline and AI infrastructure to support real-time, low-latency interactions across multiple communication channels.

  • Help design and scale the infrastructure that powers Donna’s AI systems (LLMs, voice pipelines, and data processing), ensuring reliability, observability, and performance in production.

  • Contribute to team growth by mentoring junior developers and AI engineers, helping them design scalable systems and production-ready architectures.

  • Experiment with new technologies to get the most out of our stack.

  • We believe in shipping fast to gather feedback quickly from our customers.

  • We like to keep things simple, so we leverage as much as possible the services offered by key vendors.

  • You’ll report directly to our CTO, but you’ll work together with other departments (and customers) in detailing the requirements of features and make trade-offs together in order to maximise value while minimising complexity.

Job requirements

  • We’re looking for someone with at least 5 years of experience building and scaling backend systems in production environments.

  • You have a strong understanding of distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and data-intensive applications. You’re comfortable working in a TypeScript/Node.js environment. Experience designing systems for AI/LLM-powered products, real-time pipelines, or voice infrastructure is a strong plus.

  • We have a data-heavy backend, so a strong affinity for data architectures, pipelines, and large-scale data processing is important.

  • Experience in a startup or scale-up environment is a plus. It is important you can embrace the start-up culture. While we try to keep technical debt in check, there are times we need to ship quickly and make pragmatic tradeoffs.

  • You’re able to break down big initiatives into small tasks, allowing for re-prioritization as important opportunities arise.

  • We have global ambitions, so fluency in English is a must.

  • Ability to work with us in the Ghent office; this is not a remote position.
